The Los Maestros Creativos Project
In this project we had to choose a creative master (basically someone who is really good at what they do) who speaks Spanish, and re-express or re-invent one of their works of art. I chose 3 creative masters: Mort Garson, Daft Punk, and Salvador Dali. This was my final product -->
I feel proud of the amount of work I got done in the time we had. I’m glad I got to experience this project, I was very passionate about it and I had a good time practicing my art and presentation skills. I am pretty proud of my digital presentation. It was very smooth, made sense, and went over everything that was required. It was visually pleasing and not totally boring either! I think it did a good job of representing who I am and who Mort Garson was. Although, I wasn’t too pleased with my final project. I used watercolor pencils for my drawing, but once I finished coloring, I was too scared to add water and I instead stuck with just the pencil. For next time, I don’t think I should be as scared as I was to try and improve my drawing. I have to learn to take risks, and I honestly think it would have looked better if I added the water. |
The moments that stood out to me during exhibition were whenever someone showed genuine interest in what I was talking about. There was a couple of people who actually took out their phones and wrote down Mort Garson’s name to check him out when they got home. It made me really happy introducing others to his talent. I presented in Spanish only once to Mr. Jesse, and I think that my pronunciation was pretty good. I stuttered a lot, but besides that I think I did alright.
I would say I honestly did very well. My true goal for this project was to introduce others to Mort Garson and teach them about his origin and who he was, and I think I did a great job executing and completing that goal. I connected my art piece to all of my creative masters in a unique way, and I showed passion in my work. We had a couple of guest speakers come in for this project. Heidi Ledger came in and talked about what she does, which is make fabric from natural resources. All of the items are handmade by refugees around the world as well. We also had John Parra come in, who is a famous artist for children's books. He is very creative and was good inspiration for this project. |
