The Atoms Family
The Atoms Family project was the first integrated project we did. For this project, we had to build an Atom Model for physics class. It had to be based off of one of the atom models people thought of throughout different time periods, for example, the first idea of an atom was simply a tiny, hard, circular sphere. We also made a writing piece to go along with the model. It was our scientifically, culturally, metaphorically (SCM) writing, where we had to talk about how everything is made up of atoms, and to write about our family in a scientific way, cultural way, and a metaphorical way.
In this project I used work ethic by putting a lot of effort into my scientifically, metaphorically, and culturally writing. I used collaboration by doing critique sessions with my classmates on our SCM writing and our atom model. I used oral communication by talking with the people attending the exhibition about our atom models. I used written communication on my SCM writing. I used content when showing my atom model also during exhibition. |
For the class values, I used empathy by providing lots of critique for my classmates on their SCM writing and atom model during the critique gallery walks we had during class. For grit, I did a good job at finishing deadlines when there was still a lot of things to do. For responsibility, I managed my time well even though we had a lot of tasks to finish. For respect, I respected everyone's thoughts and feedback that they gave me on my work. Finally, for integrity, I made sure the feedback I gave everyone was very thoughtful, even though I didn’t have to put much thought into it.
I feel I could have done better on my atom model, but my SCM writing was very good. I would grade myself an A+ for my writing and an A for my model. Overall, this was one of the hardest projects we have done so far in terms of time management, because of the fact we had lots of work going on at the same time. |
